Jane has many years’ experience as an animal trainer and behaviourist. She is a full member of the Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors (APBC) and currently the chair of APBC. She is a member of the British Veterinary Behaviour Association (BVBA). Jane is a Certified Clinical Animal Behaviourist (ASAB) and is listed by the Animal Behaviour and Training Council (ABTC) as a Clinical Animal Behaviourist.

Jane Williams has a first degree in Zoology (University of Nottingham) and has completed a research M.Sc. in tortoise welfare at the University of Southampton (2011). Jane’s research topic was the husbandry and welfare of Mediterranean tortoises.  

Jane set up Tortoise South East with Sian and Debbie to provide information and advice for tortoise owners, veterinary staff and those involved in the care of captive tortoises. Jane has over twenty five years’ experience of keeping tortoises and running a tortoise rescue and rehabilitation centre in Essex. She has lectured veterinary students at the Royal Veterinary College, London, on tortoise husbandry and welfare.

Jane has been on The BBC’s One Show with her tortoises and delivers talks and workshops to schools, colleges, veterinary staff and tortoise owners. She has written a number of published articles in this field.

Jane lives with numerous rescue dogs, tortoises and two rabbits in Essex.
