Having gained my BA (hons) in Textile Design from Central School of Art and Design in 1985 I designed hosiery and garment graphics for many years before becoming a lecturer in textiles. In 2002 I started Rojoart with two colleagues to provide creative art workshops for schools and community groups in a wide range of media. This was when I began feltmaking. I first exhibited felt artwork in 2006, most recently showing work in the IFA’s international touring exhibition ‘The Climate is Changing’. I currently work as Costume Supervisor at the Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and design costume. I am also a felt-making tutor and give workshops across the country.
I am interested in mixing contemporary art practice, and traditional techniques. I make felt using the traditional wet felting method and am constantly exploring different ways to manipulate the fibres and develop the technique to produce work that can be both practical and sometimes challenging.
