Claire Daly
I am a trained Conservator with over seven years practical experience in gilding and conservation.
I trained at De Montfort University, Lincoln (now the University of Lincoln) and obtained a 2:1 BA with honours in Conservation and Restoration, specialising in gilding. I interned at the carving and gilding studio at the Royal Collection in London where I later gained the position of Gilding Conservator after graduating. My duties were the restoration treatments of the Queen's gilded picture frames, mirrors and furniture, and supervising interns. I have also worked at Birmingham Museums and Art Gallery, where I established the frame conservation department in the Heritage Lottery Funded post of Frame Conservator. I was solely responsible for the care of the picture frames in the Collection, including the internationally important Pre-Raphaelite Collection.
Since March 2005, idecided to work in a freelance capacity, so that I could offer my services to other museums and individuals.
