Ukelele: from beginner to 1000 songs in a day!
The ukulele is currently experiencing it's 'third wave' of popularity, and shows no sign of stopping. All over the country people are rediscovering the joy of getting together and making their own entertainment thanks to the uke. It's a wonderful instrument to sing with, doesn't take an age to even make a tolerable sound (unlike a violin, for example!) and yet allows the player to take it as far as any other instrument, and their dedication, will allow.
In this course, professional ukulele player and teacher Phil Doleman will teach you how to tune up, hold the uke, play chords that sound great together, strum different rhythms, and yes, be able to play 1000 or more songs and fit right in with any ukulele group you'd care to join. Who knows, the course might even be the birth of a new group! No previous musical experience is necessary, nor is the ability to read music.
What to Bring
Students need a ukulele, a pen, and ideally a music stand. An electronic tuner would also be helpful but not compulsory. Reference sheets and songs to learn and play are included. If anyone is struggling to choose a suitable instrument, this is my recommendation (though you'll find it in lots of other shops or on Amazon): https://www.dukeofuke.co.uk/product/makala-mk-s-entry-level-soprano-ukulele/ And a good, inexpensive electronic tuner: http://www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/Product/1794/TGI-Clip-on-Tuner-Ukulele-and-Chromatic-modes
See under the "What to Bring" section.
